Sudan is considered the largest producer of one-humped camels in Africa, where the number is estimated at about (6) million heads (two million heads of which are in the Northern State). Sudanese meat is distinguished by its quality due to the reliance of herds on natural food in the pastures spread throughout Sudan, as the number of cows is estimated at about (40) million heads, most of which are characterized by high production specifications.

As for sheep in Sudan, which is also a source of red meat, their numbers are estimated at about (50) million heads, and the Northern State contains more than 15% of the total sheep in Sudan.

Sudanese desert sheep breeds represent the finest types of meat produced in the world, in addition to goats (43) million heads.
